Many backpackers have the problem that they put on weight while on vacation, and have to get back in shape after a long trip. This does not have to be the case!

In this article, we’ll introduce you to five effective exercises that will keep you fit on vacation, and maybe you’ll even come back fitter than you were before the trip.

1. Fitness Exercise: Push-Ups

The push-up is probably the most famous fitness exercise ever. It not only strengthens the chest muscles, but also the front shoulders and the triceps.

If simple push-ups become too easy for you, you can switch to narrow push-ups. To do this, you simply keep your hands closer together. You’ll therefore train your inner pectoral muscles, which will eventually make the silhouette of your chest stand out more. You can also put a full backpack under your feet, which changes the angle and therefore the intensity.

2. Fitness Exercise: Sit-ups

Sit-ups are easy and can be done anywhere. They especially strengthen the upper abdominal muscles, which definitely makes you look good on the beach.

By turning to the side, you can also train the lateral abdominal muscles.

3. Fitness Exercise: Squats

Yes, even squats can be done without a barbell on vacation. This exercise mainly trains the legs and butt. Just take hold of the neck of your backpack and work out the way you are used to with a barbell.

As an added weight, you can also fill your backpack with water bottles.

4. Fitness Exercise: Pull-Ups

You will often find a sturdy door frame or a swing bar in a playground somewhere. With this exercise, you mainly train the upper back and the latissimus.

Depending on the grip, you can also train the biceps.

5. Fitness exercise: biceps curl

To do a biceps curl, simply sit down on the floor and lift the opposite leg up with your hand.

Depending on the desired level of difficulty, you can also press down with your leg in the direction of the ground.
